Our Member of the Month this month is Bethany Desborough.
On the 10th of July, the commencement of Bethany’s arduous journey unfolded when a mass was discovered within her abdomen. Seven days later, on the 17th of July, she underwent a surgical procedure that involved the extraction of both a tumour and one ovary. Following this initial intervention, a relentless course of six chemotherapy sessions ensued. Even after this, Bethany’s medical challenges persisted, necessitating further surgical intervention. On the 4th of December, she faced another critical surgery to remove her remaining ovary, accompanied by the removal of a mass near her liver and another in her pelvis.
As the months went by Bethany’s battle continued; her high-dose chemotherapy took place on the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th of the month. As these sessions took place, Bethany knew that each step was a gruelling step towards healing. The 20th marked a pivotal moment in her journey, as her own stem cells were reintroduced into her body, signaling a crucial phase in her recovery.
The subsequent chapters of her story unfolded during the recovery period that followed. A period of respite was vital, allowing her body to regain strength and resilience.
In the face of adversity, Bethany’s indomitable spirit and unwavering resolve have shone throughout her medical challenges. Each day is a testament to her strength, courage, and the unyielding pursuit of a healthier, brighter tomorrow.
